Loving you in Smoke + Transition to Letters!

Hello from smoky California!

Wildfires and smoky air on top of a pandemic.
Hefty times we're living in, eh? I've not sent you a note like this since March. Sorry about that! Life is intense these days. Humans seem to learn so much through pain. Doesn't feel good, and it is what I've observed about us.

Celebrating five years of Leaning into Light!
Toasting to you from Hood River, Oregon, where I escaped earlier this month to dream a bit. We've all gotta dream, right?
It has been a huge joy to write for you and record interviews to uplift your heart -- and mine, too. Read our Letter to Humanity to celebrate with us! In it I share about a transition I'm making, toward letters in the blog.

Guess what?!?
I got a job. You might not have known that Leaning into Light isn't paid at all. Since my daughter was born, paid work has been unstable. It was frustrating! What -- you too?
It happens. Not anymore! Relief.
Now, I'm doing something I never thought I'd do! And it is fun! I'm selling kitchen knives. We all cook sometimes. These are made in America and high quality. People who have them, love them!
If you want to support me and improve your kitchen life, send a message and let's talk! Never ever will I be "salesy" with sales pressure. Especially if you love to cook, let's talk. I can get you good deals on great knives!

With the pandemic, so many more families are now homeschooling. Yep, that's our girl boulder jumping at the beach this week. We've been unschooling all her life.
You might love it, or you might be longing for the days of school's return. As for me, it's a huge passion! With zero judgment for schoolers, self-directed learning is a 20+ year passion for me since I wrote my own college degree.
Out of love for children, here are some things that may help families who are new to homeschooling:
1) My favorite national homeschool group is WIld+Free, "a beautiful homeschool community." Mamas met on Instagram and off they went, creating tribe together for our children.
2) For parents of teens, Blake Boles offers so, so much, mostly in the unschooling, adventure spirit. International trips for rich learning, several good books and a bright brain with a bright heart, too.

Life sure is teaching us a lot these days. Most importantly...
You are loved, deeply loved, whether I send out a newsletter once a month or far less often. It is true and somewhere inside of you, you know it! Listen to that place, and tell me what you hear.
With great Love,
Jessica Rios
