If there’s one thing that could free humanity from our insanity, it is: Dance. Find music that captivates you. Let the edges and curves of it move your body, one song after the next.
Dance has colossal and increasingly recognized benefits for human health
— including being scientifically proven to be the best antidepressant. Those who dance often need no other proof; we feel it like luscious liquid lightning on the dance floor. For me last night, it happened with The Crooked Stuff, who “transmits body-moving music that’s been cross-pollinated from the modern electronic and classic analog worlds.” (Thanks guys, for helping me reclaim my Fairfax roots.)
If I had a magic wand to prescribe one thing to the whole human species, it would unquestionably be: Dance.
That’s why I’m thrilled to introduce my new collaborator, Germany-based dance artist and choreographer Amelia Eisen! From Germany to California, Israel to Iceland, Amelia shares the magic of dance through teaching and performance. She and I met at a 2023 retreat for women entrepreneurs and discovered our shared passion for the healing power of dance.
Since then, Amelia and I have joined forces to bring dance into the Making Love to Fear process that is a feature of Leaning into Light. Women who work with me through coaching, Masterclasses and our free monthly workshop will get to experience Amelia’s guidance firsthand. You can read more about her here.
Oh, and today is her birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMELIA! 🦀
When will you dance next?
Your kitchen is a fantastic option. Or your living room. Backyard. Close your eyes to really feel the music, moving inside of you. There are no rules about how to move. Your body is brilliant and it knows the way. Follow its lead.
What music do you love to dance to? Here are a few songs that make me wanna move — Grover Washington’s Just the Two of Us, Madonna’s Lucky Star, Polish Ambassador’s Shine Bright, and Sweet Thing by Rufus & Chaka Khan.
Enjoy ~ ♥️ Jess
Our next free monthly workshop is Friday, July 25 from 11am-12pm Pacific. Women around the world are invited to join in community, discovering how your pain came to liberate your passion. Sign up here.
I could not agree more!!
In life, I am always on the search for a dance partner; literally, someone who will take the off-beat dance moves with me, and laugh at the finding joy in heart-pounding, breath-taking movement! Stomping the feet, jumping up-and-down, swaying the hips, gettin' sweaty, and feelin' the life pulse rage! Alas, still searching ;)...
Luckily, I find it in my own home-space, more often than not :D, and it is just as grand! Dancing around in my sunny, light blue, airy space, to any music that pumps me up, is often how I start my day. (I love this video and song for getting the day off right!! https://youtu.be/dTAAsCNK7RA?si=Rozo9_7kHT74oMam
Thank you, dear Jess, for sharing this encouragement; this truth.
